Summary
Yogendra Yadav compares the government's reaction to the Anna movement with the current situation, highlighting the parallels and differences.
“I suspect, maybe I also hope, that this is what's going to happen because of this particular action of the government.”From the report
Compare this to the Anna movement. 11 days, that's also anti-establishment, it's anti-government. Every day the government emissaries are in talk, informal and formal. Group of ministers is doing, parliament is meeting to do that. Compare it to their reaction. Not one opening of dialogue, not one conversation. And instead attempt to malign the agitation. As somebody who was a part of that protest, do you see any kind of parallels? How is it different? How is it the same? One parallel I can see, if you remember, when Anna was at Jantar Mantar, they tried to arrest him and take him to Tihar Jain. Within a few hours, they had to release him and that is when the Ramlila Maidan thing started. So that moment actually gave a fillip to the movement. I suspect, maybe I also hope, that this is what's going to happen because of this particular action of the government.
