“This suppresses the flow of information from here if at all there is any clash or any action by the police.”From the report
The area around Jantar Mantar has been closed off in several ways. I'm going to tell you three of these ways. So as thousands of people are still joining the Cockroach Janta Party's protest at Jantar Mantar, which is just a few meters away from here, there are several measures being put in around this area to increase security. The first measure is that roads leading up to Jantar Mantar have been closed. You'll see that there are barricades here. So if somebody wants to go to the Jantar Mantar, they will first be told here that there's no entry. And if they want to still go ahead, they have to walk to Jantar Mantar and they have to park their cars somewhere else. And this is not the case just with this entry. But for all entrance roads towards Jantar Mantar, they have all been closed off like this and people have to walk. The second measure that has been taken is internet has been shut off in this area for the last three days now. The jammers started on the 20th of July when the Kokoro Janta Party started their Sansad march and those jammers are still in place We used to come to Jantar Mantar we been covering the Kokoro Janta Party protest for more than a month now and we used to upload our footage also from here but we not been able to do that This suppresses the flow of information from here if at all there is any clash or any action by the police. Now third and this is something that is very rarely seen in the national capital, Karnat place which is one of the most popular spots for Delhiites to hang out at, the restaurants, the shops and offices around this area in Kanaat Place have been shut. They have all received a notice from the NDMC, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation. Not just that, 16 metro stations have also been closed in and around this area and many people say that this has been done to control the crowd that comes here. This has been done to ensure that less people can actually make it to Jantar Mantar. That combined with the road closures. But despite all of these measures, there are still thousands of people who are still coming to Janatana Mantar. The protest site inside is fully packed and people are actually overflowing out.
