how the government is taking over tribal lands and again, questions of privatization, etc. have come up. from the Goan, the Baiga and Coal communities are protesting against the Ken Betpa River Interlinking Project. Essentially, they're asking for fair compensation because they're going to be displaced from their lands, their ancestral lands. So totally around 5,300 families in Chattarpur district and 1,400 families in Panna district are going to be affected. And that is why they have resorted to, we saw them, resorting to really unusual means of protest like some were smearing mud on their faces, some were laying on wooden pyres that they erected on the banks of the Barana river which is a tributary of the kin and on July 19th, the police actually, there were parallels here to how they lifted Sonam Vangchuk from Janthar Mantar. They essentially did the same thing to the leader of this agitation. He was on a hunger strike as well. And they essentially lifted him and took him forcibly to the hospital and also forcibly dispersed the protesters from the area. So far, authorities have not given that. It's just been a cash compensation. But technically, when there is relocation and loss of land involved, it has to be land for land or village for village, which has not happened yet. Apart from that, there have also been protests. This is July 19th and 20th and July 18th. Protests against data centers, again citing environmental concerns in both Vishakhapatnam So, you know, lack of water resources, noise pollution, land acquisition, all these have come up. So clearly there's a lot, you know, that we need to care about in these kind of protests.
